Meyer Media Lab
Quick Links
The Meyer Media Lab is the main general access media production computer lab on the UC Davis campus. We provide access to media equipment and software for students, staff and faculty to create their own projects utilizing our scanner, video, audio, and general computer stations.
The following sections describe some of our services. For additional information or questions, please feel free to contact: labmanager@ucdavis.edu or call the Meyer Media Lab at (530) 752-5215.
Services
Scanning
The Meyer Media Lab offers both flatbed and slide/negative scanners.
Video
Both entry-level video editing and advanced professional video editing software are available. iMovie is available for beginning video editing. For more advanced users, Apple's Final Cut Pro Studio is available.
On specialized Video Stations, dual monitors are available allowing more room for video timelines, bins and menus. In addition, the second monitor can act as a High Definition display when editing HD footage.
A VHS to DVD video dubbing station is available to transfer VHS tapes directly to DVD.
Audio
The Meyer Media Lab has one audio room with a Mac workstation available for mixing and recording sound. The room contains a MIDI keyboard, speakers, and analog tape, CD and DAT recorder.
Color Printing
Color printing is available on a Lexmark C912 color laser printer. Each page costs $1.50 to print. Color printing is on a separate account from the regular black and white printing. Regardless of how many pages you have remaining out of the 60 printing allowance sheets for black and white printing, you will be billed on each color page printed. Color printing is limited to standard 8.5in x 11in sheets of paper. No special paper is allowed.
TeamSpot
TeamSpot is a group collaboration environment which allows people to work together using their own laptops and a large common screen. For more information, please see, http://teamspot.ucdavis.edu/
